Today we’ll visit Stephania from Stephmel’s studio. Stephania lives in Athens, Greece, she is a photographer, painter, jewelry maker…
Let’s meet her!

I live in my old family house in the north suburbs of Athens where I moved back with my family and our two dogs a few years ago. We keep a small atelier and gallery at the basement while the main house occupies the first floor. There are no limits between my working and living space and in every room there is a corner left for work and inspiration!
This orange tree out of the window of the studio is in bloom even in winter. I love its scent and colors.

I spend many hours every day with my brushes and paints. My easel is placed near the natural light with a view to a crowded street. The red lamp is about 20 years old.

On this wall, some of my black and white photos are displayed. I have framed them in black wooden frames.

Digital processing is so exciting offering the possibility to add poetry, mood and imagination to an image.

“I am not interested in shooting new things – I am interested to see things new.” Ernst Haas

The old and new generation: Nikon FE2, Nikon d80, Sony a900, all of them so much loved and used. The magnifying glass on the left bottom was found in a flea market.

A break for Greek coffee and some of my favorite books- these ones feature some great Greek photographers of the mid century.

Another book for inspiration, featuring the beautiful nostalgic photographs of Shashamane, a talented artist and great friend.

This adorable little creature made of polymer clay is a gift from lovely Maria from HeartshapedCreations on etsy.

I often create nostalgic backgrounds for le Petit Foyer, my other shop on etsy with vintage inspired jewellery. Some old clothes and a salvaged chair found in the street, placed in front of my bedroom’s window with plenty of natural light are a suitable scenery for these shots.

Nostalgy for the sea. Beach stones collected during my summer trips in the Greek islands. You can find these mini hand painted portraits inspired by the Greek mythology in my jewellery shop on etsy.

There is always a soft and warm bed for my dogs in my work space where they can enjoy a long nap during my busy hours. Here Melody is waiting patiently until her evening walk…

Thank you for spending some of your time in my little world! I hope you enjoyed your visit!
